Safer Play at Ozwin - Tools, Limits and Help
Gambling is meant to be entertainment, not income. For most punters most of the time, it stays that way. For some people some of the time, it does not - and the difference between the two is usually whether the right tool was reached for early enough. This page lays out every Ozwin safer-gambling tool, exactly how to find it in the product, and the AU national resources that exist outside us.
The Five Tools You Can Use Today
Deposit Limit
Sets a hard ceiling on what you can deposit in a 24-hour, 7-day or 30-day window. Once you hit the cap, the cashier blocks further deposits until the window resets. New accounts see a soft prompt suggesting A$500 per week as a default starting point - punters with bigger budgets can lift it; punters with smaller budgets should drop it.
Where: Dashboard - Account - Limits - Deposit Limit. Lower limits apply immediately. Higher limits trigger a 24-hour cooling period before they activate, by design.
Loss Limit
Caps how much you can lose in a rolling 7-day window. Different from a deposit limit because it accounts for wins reinvested into the next session. If you've already hit your loss cap for the week, betting is paused until the seven days roll over from your first qualifying loss.
Where: Dashboard - Account - Limits - Loss Limit. Same activation rules as deposit limit.
Session Limit
Forces you out of the lobby after a set duration of continuous play. Common settings are 30, 60 and 120 minutes. When the timer expires, the lobby logs you out and locks login for 5 minutes. It is the cleanest tool for punters who lose track of time on a long pokie session.
Where: Dashboard - Account - Limits - Session Limit. Lowering the limit applies on next login.
Reality Check
A non-blocking pop-up that appears every 30, 60, 90 or 120 minutes (you choose) showing how long you have played, how much you have wagered and how much you are net up or down. The default is 60 minutes - if you have it off, we recommend turning it on. Reality is the cheapest correction.
Where: Dashboard - Account - Limits - Reality Check.
Cool-Off and Self-Exclusion
Cool-off freezes your account for a chosen window: 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days or 6 weeks. During cool-off you cannot log in, deposit or wager. Marketing communication pauses too.
Self-exclusion is a longer commitment - 6 months, 1 year, 5 years or permanent. We honour BetStop, Australia's national self-exclusion register, automatically: if you self-exclude through BetStop, your Ozwin account closes within 24 hours of the register flagging your details to us, and we cannot reverse it before the chosen end date.
Where: Dashboard - Account - Cool-Off / Self-Exclusion. BetStop registration: betstop.gov.au.
Recognising the Warning Signs
The honest signal list. Any one of these on its own is not a problem; two or more in a row is the moment to use the tools above.
Spending more than you set out to in a session, more than once a week.
Chasing losses by raising stakes after a bad run.
Hiding the activity from a partner or family.
Borrowing money to fund deposits.
Feeling restless or low when not playing.
Lying about how much was won or lost.
Missing work, sleep or a meal because of a session.
Talking to Someone
Australia has well-funded, anonymous, no-judgement counselling services. Use them.

GambleAware NSW: state-level support, counselling and financial guidance. gambleaware.nsw.gov.au or 1800 858 858.
Lifeline: 24/7 crisis support if gambling is co-occurring with mental health distress. 13 11 14.
Family and friends: Family Drug Support Australia (1300 368 186) supports family members of someone with a gambling problem.
Underage Gambling - Hard Line
Ozwin is for adults 18 or over. We use ID verification at registration, payment-method matching, device fingerprinting and behavioural signals to detect underage attempts. If a minor is identified after the fact, the account is closed, deposited funds are returned via the original method, and any winnings are forfeited under the Terms.
If you share a household with a minor, please do not leave a logged-in session unattended on a shared device. Ozwin does not store login passwords in cookies, but a logged-in session does persist for the device's lifetime unless you explicitly log out.
What We Do Behind the Scenes
Aside from the tools you can switch on yourself, our compliance team monitors for behaviour patterns associated with problem gambling - rapid deposit escalation, chasing losses across multiple deposits in a short window, or sudden shifts in play style. When patterns trigger, we may proactively reach out, recommend a deposit limit, or in serious cases temporarily restrict the account pending a conversation. We would rather have an awkward chat with a punter than collect their losses through a problem.
We do not target marketing at players who have lifted their deposit limits to high values; we do not run "win-back" emails to self-excluded accounts; and we do not feature high-roller-style loss-leader pushes during what we know to be high-risk periods.
If You Have Already Decided to Stop
Step one - self-exclude through BetStop now. It is one form, takes about ten minutes, and covers every AU-licensed wagering provider plus Ozwin. Step two - call Gambling Help Online on 1800 858 858 or open the chat. Step three - tell one person in your real life. None of those steps are optional, and order matters: register first, talk second, support later. If finance is the immediate pressure, the National Debt Helpline (1800 007 007) provides free financial counselling.
